About the Role: We are seeking a qualified Hazard Mitigation Floodplain Engineer with approximately 5 years of experience to join our team in supporting a state government disaster recovery project. This role will focus on floodplain analysis, hazard mitigation planning, and technical assistance, including work related to FEMA?s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), helping communities... strengthen resilience against future flooding events. Key Responsibilities: ? Conduct detailed floodplain analysis and hazard assessments to identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. ? Collaborate with project stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal floodplain regulations and FEMA?s HMGP requirements. ? Develop and review floodplain mapping, flood hazard analyses, and mitigation plans using tools such as HEC-RAS, GIS, and other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software. ? Provide technical guidance and expertise on floodplain management, ensuring alignment with FEMA standards, HMGP guidelines, and industry best practices. ? Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders. ? Support the integration of hazard mitigation plans into local and regional planning initiatives. Qualifications: ? Bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field. ? Approximately 5 years of experience in floodplain management, hazard mitigation, or disaster recovery projects, with a focus on HMGP. ? Demonstrated experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS). ? Familiarity with FEMA guidelines, HMGP, and NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program) requirements. ? Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences. ? Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required Apply!
