The Global Government Affairs group within the General Counselâs Organization seeks a Manager, U.S. Regulatory Relations â Reporting.  As the principal intermediary between the company and the supervisory personnel of its federal banking regulators, the U.S. Regulatory Relations (USRR) team plays a critical strategic role driving a cohesive approach to supervision, including by identifying focus areas of the regulators across engagements and preparing senior executives and the boards of both American Express (AXP) and American Express National Bank (AENB) for their interactions with agency personnel. The Reporting and Quality Assurance team within USRR is chiefly responsible a steady stream of reporting to the agencies, senior management and the AXP and AENB boards, among other functions.
The new Manager will be responsible for a suite of periodic and ad hoc regulatory reporting, including analytics that feed that reporting. The successful candidate will be in charge of gathering insights and developing reports for C-Suite executives, the AXP and AENB Boards of Directors, and a range of critical stakeholders across the enterprise. Special and hoc projects will provide additional growth opportunities.Â
The Manager will collaborate closely with colleagues across USRR, as well as the Global Risk & Compliance Regulatory Exam Lifecycle Management (RELM) team and the Internal Audit Group (IAG), to gather critical information and insights for various reports and communications. In so doing, this individual will play a critical role ensuring the quality and consistency of messaging shared with key stakeholders across business units and functions, which in turn facilitates a cohesive approach to regulatory supervision.Â
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Lead the development of various weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting products tracking developments in supervisory activity, for regulators and senior company leadership â including management committees and the AXP and AENB Boards â working in collaboration with the broader USRR team and key partners across the enterprise.
- Gather insights through data analytics to identify trends in regulatory activities
- Compile Daily News Updates to support awareness of pertinent external developments among a subscriber base of over 750 readers across the enterprise
- Develop and manage user stories for data visualization repository and graphics automation library
- Serve as the product manager for the USRR website. Understand requirements from key end-users and work with Technology to design and implement solutionsÂ
- Provide occasional support for other team functions including quality assurance testing to ensure adherence to standards in addressing regulatory inquiries and the submission of documentation to the regulators on an established cadence.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Prior regulatory management experience preferred but not required
- Advanced excel and data visualization skills
- Prior experience working with data visualization tools such as Tableau a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite
- Proven experience and strong skills in preparing comprehensive and effective presentation materials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to distill complex matters effectively
- Highly organized and great attention to detail
- Strong inter-personal skills; able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously; operate with a sense of urgency
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner
- Highly motivated self-starter with great personal accountability and project management skills
- Intellectually curious and creative, with a strong growth mind-set
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
