Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directs core finance activities including departmental accounting, purchasing, billing, general ledger management, cost center allocations, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Ensures accuracy, compliance, and alignment with institutional policies and external regulations.
- Provides advanced analytical support for departmental leadership, using data to evaluate clinical productivity, cost efficiency, funding models, and revenue streams. Prepares high-quality analyses that inform operational planning, faculty compensation models, and strategic investment decisions.
- Leads the development of consolidated operating, personnel, and program budgets. Monitors financial performance, analyzes trends and variances, and produces actionable forecasts to support short- and long-term planning.
- Develops complex financial models and what-if scenarios to evaluate operational changes, funding shifts, or strategic proposals. Presents findings in a clear, data-driven narrative.
- Supervises, coaches, and develops a high-performing finance team. Sets goals, provides feedback, and fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Prepares regular and ad hoc reports for department chairs, division chiefs, and medical school administration. Ensures compliance with university and hospital financial policies, sponsor requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Partners with clinical, research, and education leadership to support financially sustainable program growth. Conducts financial modeling and cost-benefit analyses for new programs and site expansions.
- Evaluates and enhances financial workflows, policies, and controls to ensure efficiency, transparency, and compliance across academic, clinical, and research activities.
- Serves as a liaison to institutional finance, sponsored research, and other administrative departments. Represents Emergency Medicine in cross-departmental initiatives and committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.Â
